Organization of international scientific Congresses:
Member of the Conference Scientific and Organizational Committee at the 1st , 2nd, 3rd, and 4th  Pan-European Conference on Emergency Medicine (PECEMS). Organization of several Workshops for the Management of the Difficult Airway.
Inventions:
Invention, development, and evaluation  of the Esophageal Tracheal Combitube (CombitubeTM, produced by Covidien, Mansfield, Massachusetts, USA). The Combitube is included as a Class IIa device in the Guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA). Ultrasound contact medium dispenser device.
Present Research Interests:

1.  Evaluation of effectiveness of ventilation with a new airway for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This socalled “Esophageal Tracheal Combitube (CombitubeTM)” has been designed for emergency intubation. It allows esophageal obturator or tracheal ventilation by choice. It has been tested during routine surgery, cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the hospital, as well as during mechanical ventilation at the intensive care unit. Field studies in Valparaiso, Indiana, as well as in Longeuil, Canada, have evaluated its efficacy and usefulness during prehospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The Combitube has been included into the Standards of the American Heart Association at the 5th National Conference for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care in Dallas, February 1992. It is also included into the Algorithm for Difficult Intubation of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

2.  Airway Management: Since years I am participating, lecturing and organizing in airway managments courses. My particular field is the difficult airway managed with a variety of devices (Visualized endotracheal tube, cricothyrotomy, transilluminated stylet, etc.)  as well as evaluation of correct tube placement.

3.  Clinical evaluation of plasma concentrations of alpha-atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) in critically ill patients during mechanical ventilation and continuous veno-venous hemofiltration.

4.    Universitary reseach of homeopathy, both experimental and clinical
